Contact Teams (Libya)

Missy Ryan reported, in May of 2016, that U.S. Special Operations had created two outposts in Libya so that “contact teams” could operate as small on-the-ground units for the purposes of enhancing US awareness of the situation on the ground. Noting that the US was using these contact teams to sort through the different factions to identify potential recipients of American assistance, the two American outposts were first founded in late 2015.

The locations of American outposts were in Misrata, and near Benghazi
